1cupicefor serving
Instructions
Prepare the Strawberries
Wash the strawberries under cold water to remove any dirt or pesticides. Hull the strawberries by removing the green tops and slice them in half. This helps to release their juices more easily when blended.
Blend the Ingredients
In a blender, combine the halved strawberries, 2 cups of cold water, lime juice, and sugar. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth, about 30-60 seconds. This process breaks down the strawberries and incorporates the flavors.
Strain the Mixture
Place a fine mesh strainer over a pitcher and pour the blended strawberry mixture through it. Use a spatula or spoon to press the mixture down, extracting as much liquid as possible while leaving the pulp behind. This step ensures a smooth texture for the agua fresca.
Add Remaining Water
Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water to the strained strawberry juice in the pitcher. Stir well to combine. Taste the agua fresca and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if desired.
Serve
Fill glasses with ice and pour the strawberry agua fresca over the ice. Garnish with a slice of lime or a whole strawberry on the rim of the glass for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
For a more intense strawberry flavor, let the agua fresca chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. You can also substitute honey or agave syrup for sugar for a different sweetness profile.
