Ingredients

For the Fritters

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 tbsp baking powder for leavening
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon for flavor
  • 1/2 tsp salt to enhance flavor
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for sweetness
  • 1/2 cup milk room temperature
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cups apples peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for flavor

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 2 tbsp milk adjust for consistency
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for flavor

Instructions

Prepare the Fritters

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and granulated sugar until well combined. This ensures even distribution of the dry ingredients.
  • In another bowl, mix the milk, beaten egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. This mixture will add moisture and flavor to the fritters.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the fritters tough.
  • Fold in the diced apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Using a spoon or an ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each fritter to allow for spreading.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the fritters are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Make the Glaze

  • While the fritters are baking, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the sifted powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the milk as needed to achieve your desired glaze consistency.
  • Once the fritters are done baking, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool on a cooling rack for about 5 minutes.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters using a spoon or a piping bag for a decorative touch.

Notes

These fritters are best enjoyed warm. You can store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to restore their texture.
