Description

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • â…“ cup baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm water, active dry yeast, and brown sugar; let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about an hour until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll dough into ropes and shape into shamrocks.
  5. Boil water with baking soda; briefly dip each shamrock for 30 seconds before placing on greased baking sheets.
  6. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with salt; bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
