  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 8 oz lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large pot over medium heat and add olive oil. Sauté the chopped onions until translucent; add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef or sausage to the pot, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes and chicken broth; season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Break lasagna noodles into smaller pieces and add them to the pot. Cook for about 15 minutes or until tender.
  5. Before serving, mix in dollops of ricotta cheese to create creamy swirls. Top with shredded mozzarella as it melts.
