Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (80/20)
  • 12 oz pasta (spaghetti or penne)
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Chop the onions and mince the garlic.
  2. Boil salted water in a large pot and cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté diced onions and minced garlic until fragrant (about 3 minutes).
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet; cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
  5. Stir in canned tomatoes and Italian seasoning; simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
  6. Mix in the cooked pasta until well combined with the sauce. Serve hot, garnished with cheese if desired.
