  • 2 tbsp espresso powder
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup brewed espresso (cooled)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until well combined.
  5. Stir espresso powder into warm milk until dissolved; add to the batter gradually.
  6. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar and cooled espresso until fluffy.
