  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)
  • ½ cup peanut oil or canola oil (for frying)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and mix with buttermilk in a bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour, seasoned salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  3. In a deep skillet, heat enough oil to cover the bottom by about an inch over medium-high heat (around 350°F).
  4. Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting excess drip off, then coat each piece in the flour mixture. Fry in batches until golden brown on both sides (about three minutes per side).
  5. Transfer cooked nuggets to paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Mix honey and Dijon mustard in a small bowl until smooth.
