  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar; sprinkle yeast over it and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Add melted butter and eggs; combine well.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth. Let rise in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap for about an hour.
  4. Prepare filling by mixing sugar and cinnamon in one bowl and setting chocolate chips aside.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (½ inch thick); spread softened butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture and chocolate chips evenly.
  6. Roll tightly into a log, slice into even pieces using dental floss, and place in a greased dish. Allow to rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
